The Gentleman’s Hunt: A Vintage Inspired Pattern Collection Rooted in Adventure, Boyhood, and the Great Outdoors

There’s a certain kind of magic in the quiet moments of the great outdoors. A boy, his dog, and the thrill of the hunt or the stillness of a fishing line cast at dawn. That spirit lives at the heart of The Gentleman’s Hunt, a vintage-inspired surface pattern design collection filled with nostalgia, refined charm, and the adventurous soul of boyhood.

This collection was born from my own boys’ deep love of nature. They’re in Cub Scouts, and it shows in everything they do. They can name every tree we pass on a hike, identify fish by species when they catch them, and never miss a chance to chase after ducks near the water. Right now, they’re in a phase of big imagination. Pretending to be Davy Crockett or marching through the yard playing army. That sense of wonder, bravery, and curiosity made it easy and meaningful for me to create a masculine surface pattern collection inspired by their world.

Inside the Collection

Gentlemen of the Field Pattern: At the center of The Gentleman’s Hunt is a whimsical yet elegant print featuring short-haired German Pointer dogs dressed as vintage outdoorsmen. Outfitted in classic hunting jackets, fishing vests, and hats, these dogs are a tribute to traditional sporting style, told with a playful twist. It’s a charming and unexpected take on vintage dog surface pattern design, perfect for rustic interiors, cabin decor, or little boys’ apparel.

On the marsh: This coordinating pattern showcases hand drawn ducks flying over a marsh, surrounded by cattails, ripples, and the hush of early morning light. Nature is Calling: The third pattern is perhaps the most personal.
